Çörçil

ÇÖRÇİL
My morning-after routine involves this poor man’s elixir:
it’s simple, cheap and doesn’t make any grand promises
that would lead to disappointment later on. “Çörçil” is
what Izmir natives call the combination of lemon, mineral
water and salt. I don’t know whether the name originated
out of respect for Winston Churchill (a notoriously heavy
drinker) or if it’s just an Izmir thing, but the science behind
the drink is sound: mineral water and salt quickly restore
mineral balance, while lemon provides freshness. Did I
mention it’s also super easy? Just be sure to stick to one
glass so you don’t risk upsetting your stomach further.
